What do Reptile Rangers do?

• Reptile Rangers play an important part in protecting reptiles and other wildlife by doing a variety of very important things:

1. Learning as much about animals, nature, and science as possible.
   
   • Attending animal and nature education programs.
   • Reading lots of books.
   • Paying attention to school.
   • Excelling in subjects like math, science, reading, and writing.
   • Spending time observing wildlife in the wild!
     
     
2. Respecting reptiles and other wildlife.
   • Leave wildlife in the wild. Never remove an animal from its habitat.
   • Don’t litter and pick up trash others have left behind.
   • Reduce waste. Reuse what you can. Recycle everything possible.
     
     
3. Teaching others what you have learned about reptiles and how they can aide and respect reptiles and other wildlife too!
   
   
4. Protecting reptiles and all animal life.
   • If you find a lost, sick or injured animal DO NOT TOUCH IT!
   • Find an adult who may help determine what is best for the animal.
   • Contact Animal Welfare or Animal Control Enforcement for assistance when necessary (animal abuse, stray or loose animals.)

Where can Reptile Rangers help reptiles?

• Everywhere!
  • Teach your friends and family about reptiles and how they too can protect them.
  • If you’re old enough, you might even be able to volunteer at a nature center, museum, zoo, or aquarium helping to take care of the animals or educating visitors about wildlife.
  • Whenever you take a trip to a park or natural area, bring a trash bag and take out garbage left behind by other people.

Why are Reptile Rangers important?

• The reason so many wild places are disappearing and animals are becoming endangered is because people don’t know very much about wildlife.
• People see animals on TV and hear about them in the news, but they don’t understand why wildlife and healthy habitats are so important.
• Reptile Rangers understand the importance of wildlife preservation and suppor healthy habitats. Reptile Rangers help others to understand as well.
• As a Reptile Ranger you can actually help save animals and their homes.

How do you become a Reptile Ranger?
