RA Name: "Bufo" and "Marinus"

Intake Reason: Zoo Transfer.

RA Diet: Crickets, mealworm beetles, dead mice.

Hands On: NO.

Range: Most of Central and South America – they have been introduced to many other places including: Australia, Hawaii, and Florida.

Habitat: Just about any habitat that is tropical and rainy will do.

Natural Diet: Anything they can get their huge mouths around: snakes, mice, birds, other frogs, insects, etc...

Size: 4 - 8 inches.

Lifespan: 24 years

Reproduction: Lay hundreds of eggs in any puddle or pond.

Conservation: Giant toads are a threat to native Australian wildlife due to their highly toxic poison and ability to eat so many smaller animals. Exotic animal introductions are a major problem on islands like Australia and Hawaii.

Notes: All toads are poisonous to some degree, but the Giant toad is more poisonous than most. The large “warts” behind the toad’s eyes are actually poison glands.
