Range: Mexico to Argentina

Habitat: Mostly rainforest also occurs in woodlands, grasslands, farms, and even urban regions.

Natural Diet:  Birds and small mammals, occasionaly reptiles.

Size: 9 feet. Record: 13'1".

Reproduction: Live birth of up to 50 babies at a time.

Lifespan: 40+ years

Conservation: Threats include human predation, roads, habitat loss and the pet trade.  This is the most common snake pet abandoned by owners.  They get large, requiring custom built reptile enclosures, high humidity, and food not often found at the local grocery store!

Boas rely mosty on camouflage for their only defense, but when cornered will put on a show inflating their body with air, hissing loudly, and striking with long, sharp teeth.
